Recital Preparation
Things to be considered before performing :
1) Title : Freak In You
Artist : PARTYNEXTDOOR
Genre: Alternative R&B
Contrast : All songs in repertoire
Freak in you contrast with every song on the list because every aspect of it is different in comparison to the other songs on the list ; its tempo; the sound the lyrics; the "freaky" seductive instrumental all contrast with the other songs. The lyrics are about finding the freak in the woman PND is referring too, whereas the other songs are either emotional or about riding for your partner.
I chose this song because I like the instrumental due to the sounds being very seducing and the word play in the lyrics.
2)Title: Feel No Ways
Artist : Drake
Genre: Pop \ Alternative R&B
Contrast:Come and see me
This song contrast with 'Come and See Me' due to 'feel No Ways' being about not caring and 'Come and see me' being about one partner not coming to see the other.
I have chosen this song because I like the chords which sound very strong in my range.

Artist : Kojo funds
Genre : Uk hip hop/ R&B
Contrast: Controlla
This song Controlla by Tory Lane contrast with Kojo Funds song My 9ine because firstly both song were influenced by different sounds one being from an African sound and Controllla being influenced by a Caribbean/ Jamaican sound. Both songs talk about the usage of guns which makes them similar, however Tory talks about using a gun on a "Bad man" or "Rude Boy" which is Jamaican patois describing a "gangster". In contrast to My 9ine where Kojo is personifying his gunas a love / women which he uses to shoot at his enemies on the other side . Also Controlla talks about how no girl can deny him of sexual intercoure where as My 9ine just simply talks about using a gun as if it was his lover and protector and doing the time in prison for "her" (The gun).
I have chosen this song because its from the growing urban UK scene and the sound is quite authentic

5) Title : Controlla (Remix)

Genre : Hip hop / Dance Hall
Contrast: My 9ine
I have chosen this song because its a remix of the original and in my opinion is more better due to the language in the lyrics being more linked to the the sound which is Jamaican.
The challenges that these songs create our the rhyming for example mojo funds my 9nine is hard to learn as a lot of the words sound the same. This a challenge because the lines can get mixed up in the wrong order.Other challenges would involve the repetition of specific verses which can get mixed up.
One effective way of dealing with these challenges is practising a lot to breed confidence in yourself to not make those mistakes.
